SSH refusing the connection

A few days ago, i was wondering, why the SSH daemon of my development server suddenly died. Died in here it means i was unable to do any establish connection to my server through SSH connection. Since i'm the big fans of Unix like environment (Linux), i checked syslog and authlog-FYI i use Debian Linux 4.0 (etch), finally i got the answer. The problem due to there was any ssh brute force attack from an IP address that known as China's IP address,since then i had to change the default port (22) to other secret port. The behavior of SSH when there are so many failure connection,it will be refusing any connection to take higher security level.

The second problem i had is almost the same case, but the SSH daemon did not refusing any connection ,after i did deeply check finally i got the answer. The problem almost similar but the 2nd problem caused by the brute force attack to FTP server. Just take care with both ports, it looks like we have to do additional steps in order to ensure our server is secure.

Currently I am in the progress of moving our data center from current data center (everyone-theplanet) to linode.I decided to use Newark,new jersey USA,since our targeted visitors are Europe,Canada and north east America .Linode new jersey uses NAC backbone operator, i'm really excited with the ping time of data center especially for Europe area.Before this i had been looking the best value VPS out there. I found two VPS provider,that seems the best value, these providers are slicehost and linode.
At the first time, i was choosing slicehost, but finally i decided to use linode,and now I am being their customer.The reason i used to decide these things are :
-Linode has the better price ,compare with slicehost you can get more storage space, Dedicated RAM,and off course less money.I use Linode 540 (29.95 USD/month) ,where i can get 540 megabyte,the competitor package of slicehost is slice 512 (38 USD/month), you only get 512 megabyte RAM.
-Linode fully supported 32 bit architecture,as we know 32 bit application uses less memory than 64 bit.In other side,slicehost only support 64 bit, that uses more memory.
-In Linode we can choose the one of four data centers out there,if you are not satisfied with the data center you can move to other data center, you can contact Linode support through their ticket support system to make this happen.
-And best of all, i like their cool control panel to build and create disk node.

Since i just signed up, currently, i would not able to let you know, how performance and good of their services is.

There's any a strange bug in Internet Explorer, It recognized started at version 5.5.Unfortunately Until the last version of IE (IE 7 - As far as i know),Microsoft has not fixed it.Today as we know,IE is the most commonly used web browser in the world.The bug is the lack of handling Transparent PNG image.

PostgreSQL Division Trick

I was trying to divide a number and the result is always wrong, i tried to calculate the simple division SQL in pgsql,

SELECT (30/50) as count_result;

and the result was zero (0), it should be 0,6 rather than 0...i do not know, what i have done wrong,At the first time i experienced the problem, i thought it was bug, Until i found the following information as shown below :

Operations on integer arguments will return an integer result. To get
the value you're expecting from that division, you'll need to cast one
of the numbers to a floating point type.

Any of the following will produce the result you wanted:


select cast(30 as real) / 50;
select cast(30 as numeric) / 50;
select 30::real / 50;
select 30 / 50::float;

Hope it helps someone...who might be experiencing the same problem..

PHP's bug of LibXML makes XML parsing not working

Have u ever experienced a strange problem in PHP. The problem is PHP not working properly during parsing XML document, especially the close and open tag of HTML not show as valid HTML tag, rather than show broken character.A few days ago i had experienced the problem.I had done many things, start from changing the script,changing Unix permission, changing UTF-8 Character encoding, .Since the script uses nusoap library i thought, it may the problem comes from the library itself, therefore i decided to use XML RPC. unfortunately i had no luck.

I tried to upload the script to other webhosting.I uploaded the script to hostmonster. Since a friend of mine has the account on hostmonster's server.After everything seems OK,i tried to run the script, and the result is the script working properly as i expected. Thus, i was looking different approach in order to solve the weird problem. I tried recompile PHP engine on the server,i though the problem caused by the lack of XML library. Unfortunately i had still the problems.

After many efforts of changing the keyword in order to show the better result in Google, finally i found the answer.The problem comes since in libxml2 which using by PHP has a bit of bug. Therefore we have to compile PHP with different library called expat to parse the XML to show the better result, After i did as shown on the page,everything is running well..

Opera Mini Supports Landscape Mode

Last night, i just known the last opera mini version at the time of this writing is 4.2 , supports landscape browsing mode.By using landscape mode, the area of the screen when we are seeing website it looks better.I don't know, is the previous version already support this feature.In addition, The other new feature introduces on this version is changeable skin.

I have been using opera mini since a year ago, during these times, i would say 'good job for all opera's enginner, You have done the great program & inovation. For those of you who interested to running opera mini and general java2me program on your PC, instead mobile phone, please take a look an emulator program named sjboy ..

tableless xhtml layout

Nowadays, web layout by using tableless is not the new approach anymore, since there are so many websites out there that using tableless. If we compare the old one, table layout , the tableless approach via CSS is more tidy to look.Is it easy to implement ?, i do think it depends on the web designer, for anyone that just started to learn web design it seems difficult to be used, since we must have any knowledge of css attribute such as = padding , margin, float.To anyone that interest to learn web design and feel confuse to start, i would suggest table(with) approach instead tableless(without)

Hacking root password of Centos 4.4

I just finished hacking a secure protected linux (centos 4.4 server), i had no luck to break the root password, fortunately finally i'm able to break the root passsword. Here are the following procedures:
-Since the linux was designed the GRUB to fast booting, it seems i was not able to reach grub console.Therefore i had to use any rescue linux distro. I have found the good one called SysrescueCD
-Boot the server by using the rescue CD, mount /boot partition of server partition. Change menu.lst at line timeout=0 to timeout=15, if there's any password on the file you have to remove the line too.save the file and reboot.
-now you are able to reach grub console, on the kernel...line add the line init=/bin/bash (i was trying linux single,1, single = not work)
-After you get the bash prompt (#) you have to mount the root partition by typing= mount -o remount,rw /
-Passwd root (change the root password and confirm )
-Reboot system
-Now you are able to use the system by using root password as usual..

Create GUI application with PHP

Many of us only know php scripting language only can be used to create web application, did you know actually PHP can create GUI application, However the binary application that made by PHP is not pure win32 application (almost closer to win32 native binary) i thought is enough to create simple GUI/Desktop application. If you are really interested, fortunately there's any project that similar with PHP-GTK called as Winbinder, Since the default of Winbinder IDE does not compile to binary application (win32 binary application) you have to use compiler in order to create the binary, the one of these compilers is Bambalam PHP EXE Compiler/Embedder .Based on my view i think winbinder project is better than PHP-GTK. Just see by yourself it may be that you are looking for...The other good point, if you are interested to create database application by using those tools, it is already support many databases connection as it is 100% similar with PHP that use for web application.

Paypal Indonesia Support for receive/withdraw money

Finally, after the long waiting time, paypal has decided to support the indonesian account to receive/withdraw, however at this time they still don't support to withdraw by using local bank account, i thought it is the good news. So what are u waiting for ??, for all of you that come from indonesia or have indonesian's address let's create your paypal account immediately.
I hope the new era will come for the indonesia internet marketing, at the past time the indonesian people that needs a paypal account usually they are do a bit trick by using USA/Singapore virtual office address, however it's not the good solutions. I ever heard many of peoples that pretend become USA citizen finally paypal check their citizen by using SSN number or they will lost their money on paypal, what can we do since we are not the real USA citizen.

Once again this is the good news for the indonesian internet commerce..

Big Challenge, New experience

Since 4 months ago i have been working for my client.A European based company that sells the services for the students around the world.They specializing in media courses.The courses located at the heart of london city, United Kingdom.In this project i have gotten many challenge and absolutely new experience that i have never seen like this before.However the step when we were going to work together is difficult ,since I was not sure about my capability.I worried my capability beyond their requirements.

The times have passed away, so far i can adapt their cultures and their requirements, I respect with the spirit of European people when they working. Did u know why ?,The european peoples have been using high spirit combines with high motivation.Sometimes these conditions as not usual in indonesia.

At this project i also collaborate with spanish developer, that has many experience.The points that mention in these conditions are Learning by doing, Never surrender, do the best things that u can do.

At the moment, I was looking at the best decision regarding the Internet connection that i would be used. After i was browsing and looking in the Internet finally i have gotten the best decision for my Internet connection. Do u want to know ?, yeah wireless broadband connection that offered by an ISP at Yogyakarta. The main concern when you are looking at an internet service provider is the quality of the connection that they are using. Since my demands was different, uncommon by many Peoples finally i have gotten that suit with my needs.
If you need to know, here are the following requirements :

-a Public IP address, at least we get 1 ip address that accessible from around the world.
In my humbles opinion it really important, since i will be using VPN connection called as "road warrior access", I preferred use OpenVPN instead another VPN engine since it adds good features.
-High speed internet connection, at least we get up to 128 kbps up (i have got the right ISP that offers up to 512 kbps 1:32 instead)
-Good guaranted Services, Minimum down time within one month, they said in the website they would be given at least 99,5 % up time in one month (4 hours downtime in one month)
-Good reputable company, It's a big national company,the company has become the one of indonesian national service provider.The Internet provider is the one of their services, originally they concern in communication based satellite provider.
-They will be borrowing the wireless equipment, we can keep our budget instead we have to buy the equipments.Since the wireless equipment is not cheap stuff, it really expensive (depends on your needs and your finance)
-Low fees per month,we know, the fee is most reasonable when we are looking at anything include the Internet connection. The customer will be looking at the best price as cheap as that possible they get.Fortunately with the services that they offered i suppose it worth to use their services.

Blog Reborn

A two years ago, i had ever been using a blog, Sometimes i was blogging when i have got the right times, of course with the same address as i'm using now. The big problems, why i was stopped that blog is : i was not getting the good topics, moreover I was being lazy people. I preferred to get sleep instead write some words and post to the blog. It seems not sound good,but i realize it was the real conditions.

But the times have changed, so far there are so many things and experiences that sometimes it really important to forget. The one of best media to save those things is a blog. Nowadays blog has become a medium to post anything regarding the common things until the specific things in our live. Even the blog revolution has been changed the Internet. When i was being a student i remembered, the only one personal media to inform the fact for another person just personal homepage. At the moment personal homepage is changing by the blog revolution.
